Patricia Gay Toliver, age 43, was last seen on August 12, 1978, in Modesto, California. She had recently attended a family reunion in South Dakota, where she reportedly expressed fears that her husband, James Carlin Toliver, had threatened her life. Patricia was last known to be at her Modesto home, and her family noted it was unusual that she did not come out to say goodbye when they visited the day before.
