JoAnn Vanessa Mason, a 19-year-old from Highland Park, Michigan, was last seen on April 25, 1983. That day, she left her home to go to a nearby corner store, but never returned. Witnesses reported seeing her in the company of her ex-boyfriend, who approached her in a car near the store. Mason had recently been hospitalized after her ex-boyfriend had beaten and kidnapped her, making his involvement in her disappearance particularly suspicious.
