In the autumn of 1999, a 34-year-old woman named Kristi Jean Coppinger, who also went by the names Kris or Krystal, vanished from Bixby, Oklahoma. The last confirmed sighting of Kristi was on October 10, 1999, when she visited with her family. At the time of her disappearance, she was described as a white female, standing between 5 feet 1 inch and 5 feet 2 inches tall, and weighing between 115 and 130 pounds. She had long, curly brown hair, hazel eyes, and freckles. Distinctive features included a tattoo of a black heart on her right hip and the tip of her right index finger was missing due to a dog bite. When she was last seen, it is believed she was wearing boot-cut Levi's, dingo boots, and clothing described as "hippie-style". The circumstances surrounding Kristi's disappearance remain shrouded in mystery, with very little information available to the public. It is known that at the time she went missing, she may have had some outstanding driving tickets, and her exact home address was not known to her family. The Bixby Police Department opened an investigation into her case, but years have passed without any significant leads or answers for her loved ones. Her case was officially entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) in April 2014, nearly 15 years after she was last seen. The lack of progress in Kristi's case has left her family with many unanswered questions and the persistent pain of not knowing what happened to her. Despite the passage of time, the investigation into her disappearance is technically still open. The overview of Kristi Coppinger's case is one of quiet uncertainty. A woman, a daughter, a sister, seemingly vanished after a visit with her family on a fall day. With no witnesses to her disappearance and a scarcity of evidence, her case quickly grew cold. The few details that are known about her last days paint a picture of a woman with a free-spirited style, but offer no clues as to what fate she may have met. The Bixby Police Department continues to hold the case file, a silent testament to a life interrupted and a mystery that endures in the small Oklahoma city.
