Gonangnan's was last seen at 9:00 p.m. on March 30, 2003, when she walked out of her home on 21st Avenue in Fairbanks, Alaska and never returned. She told her teenage daughter she was going to the hospital to get examined for a suspected ectopic pregnancy. She did not want her daughter to accompany her, which is uncharacteristic of Gonangnan's behavior.
