Michael Jermaine Lawson, 31, was last seen on January 24, 2013, in Pensacola, Florida. Security footage captured him parking his car at the Brentwood Shopping Plaza on Brent Lane around 7:30 p.m., where he was seen getting into another vehicle. Shortly after, witnesses reported hearing gunshots, and the car Lawson entered sped away. His silver 1997 Honda Civic was found still running, with the keys in the ignition, in the parking lot of the plaza.
Lawson had a troubled past, including a history of drug dealing and multiple arrests, but his family believed he was working to turn his life around at the time of his disappearance. He had recently secured a job and was reconnecting with his family. Despite his past, it was considered out of character for Lawson to disappear without any contact. His family suspects foul play, potentially related to a drug-related shooting earlier in January, which resulted in the death of one man and injuries to two others. Lawson’s cousin was arrested in connection with that shooting, though authorities have not confirmed a direct link between the two incidents.
