In the late summer of 2014, the life of Tamera 'Tammy' Kingery, a 37-year-old nurse and mother of three, took a turn that left her family and community with unending questions. On the morning of September 20th, Tammy was at her job at a nursing home in North Augusta, South Carolina, when she began to feel unwell. Her coworkers noted that she seemed agitated and repeatedly checked her blood pressure, which was high.
Concerned, she called her husband, Park, and asked him to pick her up and take her home. He arrived around 8:30 a.m. and brought her back to their house on Mealing Road. After she changed into her pajamas to rest, Park left with two of their three children to run some errands, giving her time to recuperate in the quiet house.
When Park and the children returned a couple of hours later, they found the house locked and Tammy gone. Inside, a note was discovered that read, 'Went for a walk, be back soon. Love you.' However, concerningly, Tammy had left behind all of her personal belongings, including her cell phone, purse, identification, keys, and wallet. Her family reported that it was out of character for her to take walks, especially in the wooded area near their home, or to leave a note like that. An extensive search of the surrounding area was launched immediately, with law enforcement, bloodhounds, and helicopters scouring the woods, but no trace of Tammy was found. The bloodhounds were unable to pick up her scent, leading to the theory that she may have gotten into a vehicle.
In the years since her disappearance, Tammy's case has grown cold, leaving her loved ones in a painful state of limbo. Investigators have explored various possibilities, including the chance that she may have harmed herself, left voluntarily, or was a victim of foul play. Tammy had been struggling with depression and had made a previous suicide attempt. Her marriage was also reportedly strained.
