Last week we recounted here the disappearance of Jim Harbin and his airplane in the vicinity of Lake Clark Pass in Alaska after his garbled mayday message indicated icing on the wings of his Citabra airplane. Harbin had left his friend Harold Lyle, originally of Smith County Mississippi, behind in the wilderness because of a damaged tail wheel on his airplane. He intended to have the wheel repaired and return to their remote camp in the southern part of the Alaskan Peninsula.
