On a spring day in May of 1984, 64-year-old Dorothy Lucille Murrell was seen by her family for the last time in her hometown of Newport, a small community in Cocke County, Tennessee. Specific details about the day she vanished, May 24, 1984, remain scarce in public records. Dorothy, a woman with brown hair and blue eyes, stood between 5 feet 2 inches and 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighed between 150 and 160 pounds. She wore glasses and was known to have a yellow gold watch with a special engraving. Distinctive physical markers included scars from past lung and gall bladder surgeries, as well as a steel pin in her left hip. For years, Dorothy's disappearance remained a painful mystery for her loved ones and the community. The case, however, took a significant turn when her neighbor, Terry Butler, was eventually convicted of her murder. Despite the conviction, Dorothy's body has never been located.
