Gordon Vessells, a 39-year-old musician from Bernalillo County, New Mexico, disappeared on March 14, 1993. Vessells, a lead guitarist for the band Blues Kings, was last seen leaving his home after an argument with his girlfriend of eight years. He informed friends that he was planning to go fishing at Manzano Lake, but did not inform his girlfriend. He was spotted driving through the town of Manzano with a passenger on March 17, but he never returned home.

Authorities found his unlocked vehicle abandoned off a forest road near the lake shortly after he was reported missing. Inside the car, police discovered his wallet, keys, and sleeping bag, but there were no signs of foul play at the scene. Although an extensive search was conducted, no trace of Vessells has been found since. Foul play is suspected, but the case remains unsolved. Vessells's disappearance is particularly suspicious given that he was known to be a responsible individual who would not typically leave without informing others.
