In the winter of 1997, a 42-year-old man named Gary Lynn Allison vanished from Anchorage, Alaska, leaving behind a family and a case shrouded in suspicion. On January 20, 1997, Gary was last heard from in the Mountain View area of Anchorage. That day, a friend had picked him up from his home and dropped him off in Mountain View. The circumstances leading up to his disappearance were unsettling. His wife recalled a strange phone conversation with him on the day he went missing, noting that he was acting oddly and mentioned having a "new friend." After that phone call, Gary was never seen or heard from again. Gary is described as a white male with brown, curly, shoulder-length hair and blue eyes. He has several distinguishing marks, including a red birthmark, sometimes referred to as a port wine stain, on his right cheek. He also has a scar on his right arm and at least one tattoo on his left arm, with the possibility of more on both arms. At the time of his disappearance, he was 5'7" tall and weighed approximately 175 pounds. He may have had a beard or mustache at the time. The unsettling nature of Gary's last known conversation and the abrupt end to all contact have led authorities to believe that his disappearance is suspicious and that he may have been a victim of foul play. The Anchorage Police Department is the primary investigating agency for his case, listed under case number 97-15686. Despite the passage of time, the case remains open, a lingering mystery of a man who seemingly vanished after a peculiar phone call and a meeting with an unknown individual. The lack of any further contact or evidence has left his family without answers, preserving a painful uncertainty about his fate.
