In the late spring of 2002, a 35-year-old man named Brendt Lionel Rozelle vanished from his home on Lynwood Avenue in Medford, Oregon. He was last seen on May 29, 2002, with plans to travel to Porterville, California. The purpose of his trip was to meet with an attorney on June 3 to discuss the estate of his recently deceased father, which reportedly included a significant inheritance of money and property. When friends and family didn't hear from him for a couple of weeks, they initially assumed he was still in California handling his father's affairs. Brendt, a white male with blond hair and blue eyes, stood between 5'3" and 5'4" and weighed around 140 pounds. He had noticeable scars on his leg, head, and right shoulder. At the time he went missing, it's believed he was wearing tan shorts, a t-shirt or polo shirt, socks, and tennis shoes. Concerns for Brendt's welfare grew when, a week after he was last seen, a friend discovered his pickup truck unlocked in the driveway of his home. No one answered the door, and when family members entered the house a few days later, they found that his cell phone, wallet, and briefcase were gone. Curiously, a small red travel bag he typically took on trips was left behind. The alarm was fully raised when he missed a visit with his daughter on Father's Day, June 18, prompting his family to report him missing. Investigations revealed that he never made his scheduled appointment with the attorney in California. Airline records were inconclusive, and there was no activity on his cell phone, credit cards, or bank accounts after May 29th. The investigation into Brendt's disappearance took several complex turns. By the time police were able to search his home, family members had already cleaned the residence, potentially eliminating crucial evidence. Further complicating matters, Brendt's mother was charged with will forgery in August 2003 after filing a will that made her the executor of his estate and disinherited his daughter. This led to her removal as the conservator of his estate. The investigation also uncovered evidence of a marijuana-growing operation in his home and other properties he owned, though no plants were found at his residence. Informants suggested Brendt may have been involved in local drug trafficking. Despite his recent distress over his father's death, those close to him maintain that it was highly uncharacteristic for him to leave without any warning. Foul play is suspected in his disappearance, and the case, which is being investigated by both Oregon and California police, remains unsolved.
