In the spring of 2012, a 53-year-old woman named Rabihan Seiders vanished from her home in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, leaving behind a life that was fraught with turmoil. She was last seen on March 28, 2012, a date that would mark the beginning of a years-long mystery. A native of Kyrgyzstan, Rabihan, also known as Rabi, was described as a white female with black, shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. She had two small scars on one of her hands. At the time of her disappearance, she lived with her husband, Hap A. Seiders, in Silver Spring Township. Their relationship was reportedly troubled, and friends and family would later recount Rabihan's fears for her own safety. Rabihan's daughter, Valeria Kulbova, would be the one to report her missing on April 4, 2012, telling police that her mother had told her if anything ever happened to her, Hap "did it". The investigation into Rabihan's disappearance soon uncovered a history of domestic strife. In the summer of 2011, Hap Seiders had assaulted Rabihan, punching her repeatedly in the head. This incident led to a misdemeanor assault conviction for Hap, for which he was fined. Rabihan had also sought a temporary protective order against him, telling a court that he had threatened to kill her and dispose of her body in a river. She recounted a pattern of physical abuse that included punching, kicking, and choking. Her fear was so pronounced that she confided in her daughter that she worried her husband might beat her to death or poison her. As police delved deeper, they searched the Seiders' home and discovered disturbing evidence. Bloodstains containing Rabihan's DNA were found on the carpet, and bone fragments were recovered from the ashes in the fireplace. However, the bone fragments were too degraded to be tested for DNA. A neighbor also reported seeing an unusual amount of heavy smoke coming from the couple's chimney around the time Rabihan went missing, which was strange because they rarely used the fireplace. Seven years after Rabihan was last seen, in March 2019, her husband, Hap Seiders, was arrested and charged with criminal homicide, evidence tampering, and abuse of a corpse in connection with her disappearance. The prosecution's case hinged on the volatile nature of their relationship and the physical evidence found in their home. They contended that Hap had killed Rabihan, dismembered her body, and then incinerated her remains in their fireplace. The defense, however, argued that the prosecution had not definitively proven that Rabihan was deceased. They suggested the possibility that she had fled the country, perhaps to her native Kyrgyzstan, with a substantial amount of her husband's assets. In September 2020, after an eight-day trial, a jury deliberated for just two hours before acquitting Hap Seiders of all charges. To this day, Rabihan Seiders' body has never been found, and what happened to her after March 28, 2012, remains unknown. The case is a somber overview of a life interrupted, marked by fear, a troubled relationship, and a justice system that could not provide definitive answers for a daughter who lost her mother.
