In the autumn of 2014, a family's life was forever changed when 64-year-old James Willie Oden, a male resident of Nashville, Tennessee, vanished without a trace. On November 29th, a friend gave him a ride and dropped him off at a Walgreens store located at the intersection of Charlotte Pike and White Bridge Road. After exiting his friend's vehicle, James Oden simply walked away, and that was the last time he was ever seen or heard from again. The circumstances surrounding his disappearance are sparse, leaving his loved ones with unanswered questions and a void that has yet to be filled. At the time he went missing, he was described as a Black male, standing between 5'9" and 5'10" tall and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds. He had graying black hair, which was balding on top, and a gray and black beard and mustache. James, who was also known by the nickname "Pops," had several distinguishing tattoos. These included a firearm tattooed on his chest, a tattoo of two pitchforks with a devil on one of his arms, and other tattoos on his chest, arm, and wrist. He had brown eyes and did not wear glasses. It is also known that he suffered from both diabetes and high blood pressure, conditions that could require regular medication and care, adding another layer of concern to his sudden disappearance. Despite these details, information regarding the clothing he was wearing on the day he vanished remains unknown, further complicating the efforts to locate him. He did not own a vehicle, and how he might have traveled from the Walgreens is another unknown element in this perplexing case. The days turned into weeks, and the weeks into years, yet there has been no sign of James Oden. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department has been investigating his case, but few leads have emerged. His case is classified as an endangered missing person, a stark reminder of the vulnerability of individuals who disappear under such mysterious circumstances. The lack of any substantial new information has left his case cold, a painful reality for a family left in limbo. The overview of the case paints a somber picture: a man dropped off at a local store who then seemingly vanished into thin air, leaving behind only memories and a collection of physical descriptors that have yet to bring him home.
