George Contos, a 58-year-old resident of Bunnell, Florida, was last seen on May 9, 2015. Known for using a prosthetic leg due to a previous amputation and managing diabetes, Contos was a well-known figure in his community. He disappeared while reportedly planning to visit a friend in South Carolina. His white Lincoln Town Car was later found abandoned in a parking lot of an Ace Hardware store in Palm Coast on May 20, raising concerns.
An investigation revealed suspicious circumstances surrounding his disappearance. Detectives discovered $25,000 in cash missing from Contos’ home, and evidence suggested foul play. Contos was last seen with a local handyman, Donald Corcoran, who along with his stepson, became persons of interest in the case. Despite these leads, and Corcoran making large purchases following Contos' disappearance, no formal charges have been filed, and Contos has not been located.
Authorities continue to appeal for information, offering a reward for tips that could solve the case. Contos’ disappearance remains an open investigation, with his family and the Flagler County Sheriff's Office urging anyone with information to come forward.
