Nancy Claira Bromet, aged 37, was last seen on November 17, 2015, while traveling across the country with her boyfriend, Julio Jesus Cruz, a long-haul truck driver. The couple was making their way from Sunrise, Florida, to Bakersfield, California, in an orange 18-wheeler truck. Nancy was in regular communication with her family through her boyfriend’s phone, as she didn’t have a phone of her own.
On November 17, Nancy called her family in a distressed state, expressing a desire to return home. Her father offered to purchase a plane ticket for her and suggested that Cruz take her to the airport. The last thing Nancy’s family heard was her asking Cruz, “What do you think?” before the call abruptly ended. When her father called back, Cruz claimed that Nancy was asleep. Cruz later reported that he dropped Nancy off at a shopping mall in El Centro, California, on November 20. He gave her $40 to shop while he completed deliveries, but when he returned two hours later, Nancy was gone.
Nancy has not accessed her bank account or collected her disability payments since her disappearance. Her family, doubtful she ever made it to California, reported her missing on November 22. Despite searches and ongoing investigations, no significant leads have emerged, and her case remains unsolved.
