In the summer of 1960, a 12-year-old boy named Alexander Walter Roberts, also known as Alex, disappeared from Phoenix, Arizona. On July 29th, he was at his uncle's home in the vicinity of 13th Street and Brill. At the time, Alex was living with his aunt on West Cavalier Drive and was an eighth-grade student at St. Agnes School. That day at his uncle's house was the last time he was ever seen or heard from. The young boy, with sandy brown hair and brown eyes, had a noticeable scar under his left eye. When he vanished, he was wearing blue Levi's jeans, a white cotton short-sleeved t-shirt, and brown high-top leather shoes. He also had on a gold wristwatch with a leather band and was carrying a brown wallet. The circumstances surrounding Alex's disappearance remain unclear, with very few details available in his case. At the time he went missing, his mother was living in San Francisco, California, and his father resided in Glendale, Arizona. Authorities initially believed that Alex might have been a runaway, possibly attempting to travel to California or Texas, where he also had relatives. However, the possibility that he remained in the Phoenix area has not been ruled out. Over the years, there has been a notable lack of media follow-up on his case, and it is uncertain what, if anything, he took with him when he left. The lack of information has made it difficult for investigators to piece together the events leading up to his disappearance. Decades have passed since Alexander Walter Roberts was last seen, and his case remains an open and haunting mystery. The initial belief that he was a runaway has been questioned over time, as it is difficult to imagine a 12-year-old boy surviving on his own and never contacting his family again. The Phoenix Police Department continues to list him as a missing person, and his case is a somber reminder of the many unsolved disappearances in the area. Age-progressed photos have been created to show what Alex might look like in his later years, in the hope that someone might recognize him. Despite the passage of more than six decades, the search for answers continues for a boy who vanished on a summer day in Phoenix.
