Summary based on the NamUs case record (MP35029) and 3 other sources
Joseph Caponetti, 57, was last seen on the morning of April 10, 1979, in San Bernardino, California. Caponetti, the owner of Joe's Tru Cool Air Conditioning, left his home around 8:00 a.m. to go to his business. Just an hour later, at 9:00 a.m., a part-time employee arrived at the shop and found the doors open, Caponetti's truck with its keys in the ignition, and an alarming pool of blood behind a workbench in the rear of the shop. The blood had been partially covered with tar. Despite thorough investigations, Caponetti himself was never found, and his disappearance has remained unsolved for decades.

At the time of his disappearance, Caponetti was wearing a light blue sweatshirt with worn lettering that read "Joe's Tru Cool," along with light blue corduroy trousers and brown high-top shoes. He stood 5'7" and weighed about 145 pounds. His case is still open, and authorities continue to encourage anyone with information to come forward.
