Johnny Perez, a 23-year-old man from San Antonio, Texas, was last seen on July 2, 1993. He had left a family barbecue with a friend, Jack Lee King, and reportedly stopped at an Exxon gas station before Perez departed with some women in a silver car. Witnesses later revealed that after the party extended into the early hours of July 3, Perez, who had become intoxicated, entered the passenger seat of King's car.
King allegedly returned, shot Perez at close range, and then drove off with his body in the car. Despite multiple witnesses seeing the event, the shooting was not reported to the police until three years later.
In 2009, King was charged with Perez's murder, and although he denied killing him, claiming that Perez left with a woman at the gas station, witnesses testified against him. King was convicted and sentenced to 60 years in prison, but Johnny Perez's body has never been found.
