He had left his home country of El Salvador on September 5, 2012, with plans to enter the United States. His journey brought him into the U.S. through the area near Reynosa, Mexico. On September 21, 2012, his family received a call from individuals who were traveling with him, informing them that Edwin had been left behind along the journey because he could no longer continue.
