At the time of his disappearance, Marshall was described as a Native American male with black hair and brown eyes, standing between 5'10" and 5'11" tall, and weighing between 165 and 190 pounds. He has several distinctive tattoos, including the name "Jewett" on his right forearm, the initials "CH" and a skull with a joker hat on his left arm, and the initials "KDM" on his left forearm. He also had a medicine wheel tattoo on the right side of his neck that was in the process of being covered by a larger, unknown design. Other distinguishing features include a one-and-a-half-inch scar on the top left of his head and a circular birthmark on his left elbow. He may have had a plate or pin in his chin from a previous jaw injury.
