George Bugher Missing Person Case

George Wright Bugher, a 38-year-old businessman from Elizabeth, New Jersey, was last seen on July 8, 1964. Bugher, who owned Hand Hardware Store, was facing financial difficulties at the time of his disappearance. On the day he vanished, he told his wife over the phone that he would be late because he had a meeting with two men to discuss refinancing the business. He was last seen by his business associates around 7:00 p.m. that evening.

The following morning, Bugher's store manager found his keys in the lock, the store's burglar alarm turned off, and both safes open. A cash box containing over $600 was missing. Bugher's personal belongings, including his wallet, jacket, and briefcase, were left behind inside the store. Two days later, his car, a 1954 Chevy, was discovered parked in Newark, New Jersey, with the missing cash box inside, though it contained only a few pennies and receipts.

Despite extensive searches, no further clues have been uncovered about Bugher’s whereabouts, and his case remains unsolved. Investigators have never determined what happened to him after that fateful night.
