Wanda Gail Loe, a 26-year-old woman, disappeared on July 26, 1968, from Tahoe City, California. She had been working as a waitress at the Sunnyside Restaurant and Lodge in North Lake Tahoe for about six weeks before she mysteriously stopped showing up for work. Her personal belongings, including her last paycheck and mail, were left uncollected. Loe's vehicle, a green 1969 Buick, was found in the restaurant’s parking lot, but there were no signs of her.
At the time of her disappearance, Loe was camping in the Blackwood Canyon area near Homewood, California. Her campsite was found dismantled, and some of her property was stolen. Witnesses reported seeing a Volkswagen Bug near the site, though its connection to her case remains uncertain. Loe had a turbulent relationship with her boyfriend, Dennis Finn, and while intoxicated, Finn allegedly confessed to murdering her. He passed away in 1982 without being charged, and despite various tips, Loe's body has never been recovered. Investigators believe she may have been the victim of a homicide, possibly buried in the Carpenter Valley area near Truckee, California. Her case remains unsolved.
