Megan Lee Ann Pratt, a 2-year-old girl from Brooksville, Florida, was last seen around April 1, 1991. Her disappearance, however, was not reported until 2002, when her paternal grandmother began questioning her whereabouts. Megan's mother and stepfather, Vicki Ann Schober and Jesse James Schober, had previously told family members that the child had died in a car accident.
However, no death records or burial information could be found, leading to a formal investigation by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office over a decade later.
During the investigation, conflicting stories emerged from Megan’s mother and stepfather. Eventually, it was revealed that Megan likely died due to severe abuse. According to investigators, Jesse Schober fatally injured Megan after becoming enraged when she was playing with her food and later splashing in the bathtub. He allegedly disposed of her body by burning it and burying the remains in the woods. Despite these confessions, Megan’s remains have never been found.
In 2003, Vicki Schober pleaded no contest to aggravated child abuse and was sentenced to six years in prison. Jesse Schober, facing first-degree murder charges, accepted a plea deal in 2005, admitting to second-degree murder and receiving a 25-year sentence.
