Adam Emery, a 31-year-old man from Warwick, Rhode Island, vanished on November 10, 1993, the same day he was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Jason Bass. The incident, which took place in August 1990, stemmed from a case of mistaken identity during a road rage altercation. Emery believed Bass's vehicle had struck his car, but later evidence proved this was incorrect. During the confrontation, Emery fatally stabbed Bass, claiming self-defense during his trial.

On the day of his conviction, Emery was released on bail and, along with his wife Elena, was last seen purchasing exercise weights and athletic wear before heading to the Claiborne Pell Newport Bridge. Their car was later found abandoned on the bridge, and both Adam and Elena left apparent suicide notes. Months later, Elena’s remains were recovered from the waters below the bridge, but no trace of Adam was ever found.

While Adam Emery was declared legally dead in 2004, authorities have not ruled out the possibility that he is still alive. Multiple reported sightings of him in locations like Florida and Europe, particularly Italy where he has family, have fueled ongoing investigations. Despite these leads, the FBI still considers him a fugitive, and the mystery surrounding his disappearance remains unresolved.
