Shalonda Morris, a 36-year-old woman, was last seen on October 12, 2007, in Palm Desert, California. She left her home in Palm Springs around midday to meet a friend, Sean Michael Mihajson, at a smoke shop. Morris was driving a dark burgundy 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer at the time and has not been seen or heard from since. Her sudden disappearance prompted an investigation, as it was out of character for her to vanish without warning.
Morris had been battling cancer and required medical treatment, which made her disappearance even more alarming.
As the investigation unfolded, authorities began to treat Morris's case as a homicide. Her vehicle was later recovered, and evidence pointed to foul play. Sean Mihajson, along with his twin sister Vanesa and their father Victor, were persons of interest. Investigators believed Morris had planned to purchase marijuana from Sean, a transaction that was supposed to involve $7,500. However, it is suspected that Sean killed Morris during the exchange and took her money.
In 2008, Sean Mihajson was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, and Vanesa was also apprehended for her role as an accessory to the crime. She had helped her brother dispose of Morris's body by providing him with a van, duct tape, and plastic sheeting, though she wasn't present for the murder itself. Sean Mihajson was eventually convicted of Morris's murder and sentenced to life in prison. Vanesa's murder charge was dropped, but she was convicted of being an accessory and sentenced to probation.
