Carl Stephen Knight, a 23-year-old from Sonora, California, went missing on April 6, 2008, after an altercation at a residence in Jamestown. He was reportedly involved in a physical fight with two brothers, Robert and Paul Slawinsky. Following the fight, Knight disappeared, and a subsequent investigation led to the arrest of the Slawinsky brothers.
Initially charged with kidnapping and conspiracy, the charges were later upgraded to first-degree murder as evidence of foul play emerged, including bloodstained items and brass knuckles found at the scene.
The Slawinsky brothers eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter, admitting they killed Knight during the altercation and disposed of his body in Lake Don Pedro. Despite extensive searches, including sonar and divers, Knight's remains have never been recovered.
