Krista Marie Sypher, a 44-year-old mother of three, was last seen at her home in Plover, Wisconsin, on March 13, 2017. Her husband, Jason Sypher, claimed he last saw her that morning before he left to run errands. Krista did not take her car, and her phone has been inactive since that day. Jason reported her missing a week later, on March 20, stating he initially thought she had left with a boyfriend, but he had not actually witnessed her departure.
The investigation into Krista's disappearance revealed troubling details. Krista had been walking with a limp due to a recent ankle injury, making it unlikely she left on foot. Additionally, Jason made multiple suspicious cash withdrawals from their joint account before her disappearance and purchased large trash bags on the day she vanished. Krista's broken phone was later found in a public dumpster, with Jason’s fingerprints on the bag containing it. Investigators also uncovered a history of domestic abuse between the couple, and there was evidence that Jason had disposed of a heavy garbage bag at a waste facility shortly after Krista went missing.
In 2018, Jason Sypher was arrested and charged with first-degree intentional homicide and hiding Krista’s body. Although her remains have never been found, he was convicted in October 2019 and sentenced to life in prison. Despite the conviction, Krista Sypher remains missing, and authorities continue to seek information about her whereabouts.
