Akia Eggleston, a 22-year-old from Baltimore, Maryland, went missing on May 3, 2017, while eight months pregnant. She was eagerly planning a baby shower and preparing for the arrival of her second child. Her last known sighting was at a bank in downtown Baltimore, where she withdrew money, reportedly to put a down payment on a new home that she was planning to share with Michael Robertson, the father of her unborn child.
Despite her meticulous preparations, Eggleston never showed up to her baby shower on May 7, raising alarm among her family and friends.
Authorities quickly launched an investigation into her disappearance. Eggleston's phone was last tracked with Robertson's in downtown Baltimore on the same day she was last seen, after which all communication from her stopped. Although her body was never recovered, investigators uncovered incriminating evidence against Robertson, including suspicious internet searches related to trash disposal and landfills. In 2022, nearly five years after Akia's disappearance, Michael Robertson was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of Akia and their unborn child.
