In the winter of 1976, 36-year-old Deniece "Deni" Herreras, a female resident of the Bronx, New York, disappeared under circumstances that remain unclear. Prior to her disappearance, Deniece was a known figure in her community. In 1970, she was a Democratic candidate for the New York State Assembly. She had also been a consumer advocate in the Buffalo, New York area, where she had lived with her then-husband. The couple later divorced in the Bronx in 1974. Financial difficulties, reportedly stemming from campaign expenses, had led to bankruptcy for Deniece and her husband. Years have passed without any resolution in Deniece's case. Despite her past public profile, her disappearance received little to no media attention at the time. The lack of information has left her family with unanswered questions for decades.
