Linda Louise Fledderman, aged 32, was last seen in the early hours of August 17, 1996, at the Myakka City Bar and Grill in Myakka City, Florida. She had spent the evening with her long-term boyfriend, Jefferson Lowry Blanton. Later that day, Blanton was found shot to death in their shared home, with no signs of struggle or forced entry. Fledderman, however, had vanished, leaving her vehicle, identification, and other personal belongings behind at the residence.
Her disappearance occurred under suspicious circumstances, as the couple had a troubled relationship marked by domestic incidents.
Initially, Fledderman was considered a suspect in Blanton's murder due to the nature of their relationship, but investigators later shifted their focus. They began to explore the possibility that she, too, may have been a victim of foul play. Larry James Parks, a convicted murderer, was later linked to the case after his fingerprints were found in Fledderman's vehicle. Parks is a known violent offender, and his involvement remains under investigation, though no formal charges have been filed regarding Fledderman’s disappearance.
Fledderman, a technician at L-3 Aviation Recorders, had a young son, whom she left in the care of her sister before her disappearance. Her family had her declared legally dead in 2001, believing that she would never have voluntarily abandoned her child.
