Michael Lord, age 53, was last seen on July 3, 2000, in North Hampton, New Hampshire. His family reported him missing after he failed to attend a planned barbecue on July 4. Initially, there was little to suggest foul play, but as the investigation unfolded, shocking details emerged.

Lord's disappearance was later connected to a dominatrix named Barbara Asher, who was accused of manslaughter. Prosecutors alleged that Lord died from a heart attack during a bondage session in Asher's Massachusetts apartment. Instead of seeking help, Asher, along with her boyfriend, allegedly dismembered Lord’s body and disposed of it in trash bags behind a restaurant in Augusta, Maine. However, Lord’s remains were never recovered, and there was no DNA evidence linking him to the scene. This lack of physical evidence became a key point in Asher's defense. Despite the confession Asher gave during police interrogation, her defense argued that she had been coerced into it, and in 2006, she was acquitted of all charges due to insufficient evidence.

Michael Lord’s case remains unresolved, as his body has never been found, leaving many unanswered questions surrounding the circumstances of his disappearance. The case still haunts his family, who have sought justice for over two decades.
