Ruthanne Ruppert, aged 49, disappeared on August 14, 2000, while visiting Yosemite National Park. She was last seen around noon at the Yosemite Medical Clinic in Curry Village, where she received treatment for an eye infection. Despite her plans to join a backcountry backpacking group, she postponed the trip due to her illness and was believed to have set out on a solo day hike from Yosemite Falls to the Foresta area.
