The last known communication from Robert Roush was a telephone call to his sister from Virginia. During the call, he stated that he had lost his wallet but still had his New York identification. His sister sent him a money transfer, and he indicated his intention to return home. This was the final contact anyone had with him. It is believed that he was traveling by bus or possibly hitchhiking at the time of his disappearance. The last known location he mentioned was Daleville in Botetourt County, Virginia.
