In the remote village of Pilot Point, Alaska, a young man's disappearance has left a community with lingering questions. Gust William Griechen IV, a 25-year-old U.S. Army veteran, was last seen on the afternoon of April 27, 2017. He was observed at approximately 3:00 p.m. walking towards an area known as Dago Creek. At the time he went missing, he was wearing a dark blue Columbia coat, dark-colored trousers, and a pair of large blue stereo headphones.
His disappearance would not be officially reported to the Alaska State Troopers for nearly two to three weeks.
The circumstances surrounding Gust Griechen's disappearance are perplexing. He was scheduled to take a flight to Dillingham, Alaska, the day after he was last seen, but he never boarded the plane. Investigators found his luggage packed and ready for the trip inside his residence, suggesting he had intended to travel. Adding to the mystery, he had left his cell phone with another person before he vanished.
