In the early summer of 2017, family members of 26-year-old Cynthia "Cindy" Orsborn grew concerned when they hadn't seen or heard from her. On June 21, they officially reported her as a missing person to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff's Office. They informed deputies that the last time they had contact with Cynthia was on June 13, when she was dropped off at a friend's residence in the Natchitoches area. At the time of her disappearance, Cynthia was described as being 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 121 pounds, with long blonde hair and hazel eyes. She is a mother to two children. Tragically, this was not the first time the Orsborn family had experienced such a loss; Cynthia's father, Michael Orsborn, vanished from Provencal, Louisiana, in 2006 and has never been found. The investigation into Cynthia's disappearance soon focused on her boyfriend, Jack Daniel "J.D." Nobles, with whom she had a troubled and violent history. The couple had been renting a house in Calvin, Louisiana, which is where Nobles claimed he last saw her. He told authorities that Cynthia simply got into a car with an unknown person and left. However, his account was met with skepticism by Cynthia's family. There was a history of domestic violence in their relationship, and in November 2016, Cynthia had filed for an order of protection against him. Just ten days after she was reported missing, Nobles was arrested for violating that order. He is considered the only person of interest in her case. Nobles has a significant criminal history with many offenses involving violence against women. In 2014, he was charged with rape, assault, and false imprisonment of another girlfriend, but the charges were dropped when the victim disappeared before the trial. Authorities later located her and expressed intentions to bring that case to trial. While Nobles has not been charged in connection with Cynthia's disappearance, law enforcement officials have publicly identified him as a suspect. Searches for Cynthia were conducted in the Winn and Natchitoches parish areas, involving divers and cadaver dogs, but these efforts yielded no results. The case remains unsolved, and foul play is suspected.
