Rogelio Escobar, a 65-year-old man from Houston, Texas, was last seen on August 26, 2018, at his home on Prudence Drive. His disappearance triggered alarm among family members, especially when his 61-year-old sister, Dina Escobar, went searching for him on August 28 and also vanished. Dina's van was later discovered abandoned and burned on a beach near Galveston, but there was no sign of either sibling initially.
Tragically, it was later revealed that their nephew, Ramon Escobar, was responsible for both of their deaths. Ramon had been living with Rogelio and confessed to murdering his uncle during a dispute, using a police baton to kill him. He subsequently killed Dina when she attempted to locate her brother, hiding in her van and strangling her. Their bodies were found in a landfill. Ramon later fled to California, where he was arrested and charged with additional murders during a violent spree that targeted homeless individuals.
