In early June of 1974, a 29-year-old U.S. Air Force veteran named Wynant Lee Moore, also known as 'Hemmy,' sought the tranquility of nature for a weekend camping and fishing trip. His fiancée, Ruth Lyles, dropped him off at Mill Creek Lake within the scenic Natural Bridge State Park near Slade, Kentucky.
