Max Lilburn Stone, a 42-year-old man from Lubbock, Texas, was last seen on December 30, 1976, at a bar on Brownfield Highway. He never returned to his apartment, and all of his belongings, including his paycheck and medication, were left behind. Stone's yellow 1973 Pontiac was found the next day, abandoned and impounded after being driven by a man named Victor Briones, who was arrested for drunk driving. Stone's wallet and identification were also discovered nearby.
