William James Elgen, a 25-year-old man from Modesto, California, went missing on December 29, 2010, while staying at a cabin on Mount Provo Road near Twain Harte. He had been at the cabin with a friend, who left briefly to gather supplies. When Elgen's family arrived at the cabin for a surprise visit, they found the door unlocked, the power turned off, and his winter coat and dog left behind.
