In the summer of 2017, the family of 26-year-old Jaime Henry Doering Jr. lost contact with him, sparking a long and painful search for answers. He was last officially seen in Gresham, Oregon, on July 31, 2017. His family reported that it was highly uncharacteristic of him to be out of touch for more than a few days at a time. The last known conversation he had with his mother was at her home in July of that year. His disappearance has been especially difficult for his loved ones, who have been left to wonder what could have happened to him. Jaime had been facing personal challenges in the years leading up to his disappearance. He had been struggling with substance use, particularly with heroin and methamphetamine, since his early teens. These issues had led to him being homeless for about two years. His struggles also caused difficulties within his family, and at one point, both of his parents had taken out restraining orders against him due to his aggressive behavior. Despite these challenges, he remained in contact with his family, and his mother had even dropped the restraining order against him. In his last conversation with his mother, he expressed feeling as though she had given up on him. The timeline of Jaime's last known movements adds to the mystery of his case. In addition to speaking with his mother in July, he was arrested on July 17, 2017, for trespassing and violating a restraining order. He was later seen in August leaving the Coda Gresham Recovery Center. Since that time, there have been no confirmed sightings or communications from him. Authorities and his family have considered the possibility that he may be in hiding, perhaps believing his family no longer wants him around. However, his mother also fears that he may have met with foul play. The case remains unsolved, a painful open chapter for a family waiting for answers.
