On a cold January morning in 2019, 85-year-old Pandora Duckett vanished from her Memphis, Tennessee, home. A female diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, Pandora had only recently moved to the Raleigh neighborhood to live with her son, having resided in the Jackson area for the previous two decades. On January 28th, she walked away from her residence around 8:30 a.m.
She was last seen wearing a gray jacket, gray sweatpants, and white sneakers, and she may have been carrying a small blue purse. The day she went missing was described as bitterly cold, adding a layer of urgency and concern for her well-being.
Following her departure from home, Pandora was seen at a Valero gas station at the intersection of New Allen and Raleigh-Millington Road, about two miles from where she was living. Surveillance footage from inside the store captured what is believed to be one of the last images of her. After leaving the convenience store, a woman reportedly gave Pandora a ride. Pandora provided an address she claimed was her home, but unfortunately, it was not the correct one. After being dropped off at this unknown location, she was not seen again.
In the days that followed Pandora's disappearance, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office launched an extensive search effort. Deputies utilized aerial searches, K-9 units, and all-terrain vehicles to scour the surrounding areas, but their efforts yielded no signs of the missing woman. Eventually, the active search was suspended. Despite the lack of new leads, her family has remained determined to find answers. Six months after she went missing, they raised a $15,000 reward for information that could help locate her. Her son, Kim Duckett, has expressed the profound difficulty of not knowing what happened to his mother.
