On March 1, 1992, 25-year-old Rita Michele Maxwell left her home on Dundeen Street in Charlotte, North Carolina, stating she was going to visit someone. She never returned, and her family reported her missing on March 17. Rita was known to frequent drug houses and had a criminal history related to drugs and prostitution. Despite her struggles, she maintained contact with her family, making her sudden disappearance alarming.
Rita's disappearance coincided with the beginning of a killing spree by Henry Louis Wallace, a serial killer who confessed in 1994 to murdering eleven women in Charlotte, all of whom were African-American and many of whom he knew personally. Although Wallace did not confess to killing Rita, her case shares similarities with his known victims, leading authorities to suspect a connection. Another woman, Devonne Dubose, who also disappeared in 1992, is similarly suspected to be a victim of Wallace.
Rita's family has endured decades of uncertainty. Her daughter, Kristie Maxwell, and sister, Lisa Maxwell Willis, have expressed their anguish over the lack of closure. They have participated in efforts to collect DNA samples to assist in identifying possible victims of Wallace. Despite the passage of time, they continue to seek answers and hope that Wallace will eventually confess if he was involved in Rita's disappearance.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department continues to investigate Rita's case. Detective Lee Tuttle has been involved in collecting DNA samples from family members of missing persons, including Rita's, to aid in identifying remains that may be connected to unsolved cases. The department's cold case unit remains committed to resolving these long-standing mysteries....Read More

on Vanished at Sea: The Mysterious Disappearance of Cameron Booth Off Chincoteague's Coast
He was a criminal, an abuser, likely who didn't want to face justice of his actions and took his own life because he could not face the consequences of what he did. The victims have told the family his crimes, with evidence. The family knows he was arrested and convicted of possession of CSAM. They know who and what he was. And they're all so equally sick they live in comfort that the victims don't want to retraumatize themselves over everything he put them through. Dont support this families sick parade of using a monster to get sympathy. He was never ashamed of who he was. He loudly boasted his crimes and justified them. The family shouldn't sit there and pretend, how far from reality are they to sit and post this man publicly on news outlets, websites, knowing who he is. Do they need attention that badly? They don't want the attention from the truth. The victims will never get justice. Do not pray for him o
