On January 20, 1996, 23-year-old Gilberto Rene Gonzalez and his 19-year-old cousin and roommate, Jose Chavez, vanished from their shared apartment in Tucson, Arizona. The two young men had recently relocated to Tucson and were employed at a clothing store on South Sixth Avenue. They shared a vehicle provided by their employer and resided in an apartment located in the 1800 block of Irvington Road. Their sudden disappearance left no clues, and nearly three decades later, their fate remains a mystery.
The Day They Were Last Seen
Gonzalez and Chavez were last seen on January 20, 1996. They were scheduled to open the clothing store the following day but failed to appear.
