A Routine Voyage Turns Tragic
On March 9, 1993, the 86-foot cod trawler Lady of Good Voyage departed from Dillingham, Alaska, embarking on what was expected to be a standard fishing expedition. Among the crew was 32-year-old skipper Gregory Schwindt from Bellingham, Washington, accompanied by Jeremy “Jay” Scott-Hunter, 37, also from Bellingham, and brothers Larry and Eddie Hoover from Oregon. The vessel's journey, however, would end in mystery and tragedy, as it vanished without a trace, leaving behind only fragments and unanswered questions.
The Mysterious Disappearance
The Lady of Good Voyage was last heard from on March 9, 1993. Shortly thereafter, an Emergency Locator Transmitter signal was detected, prompting immediate concern. Search and rescue operations were launched, but the only evidence found was a crushed life ring and an empty life raft.
