In the early hours of February 12, 2017, 38-year-old Timothy Staples and 45-year-old Troy Smart departed from the Mountain Point boat launch near Ketchikan, Alaska. Their intended destination was Cowboys Camp on Annette Island, a journey typically requiring about 30 minutes by skiff. When they failed to arrive as expected, concern quickly escalated, prompting one of their fiancées to alert the authorities around 4 a.m.
Later that morning, search teams located the men's 16-foot skiff overturned in Blank Inlet, approximately 100 yards north of Blank Island. The vessel was unoccupied, and nearby debris was found in the surrounding waters. Despite extensive search efforts, including aerial and marine units, no trace of Staples or Smart was found.
The U.S. Coast Guard initiated a comprehensive search operation, deploying assets such as a Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Sitka and a 45-foot response boat from Station Ketchikan. The Ketchikan Volunteer Rescue Squad conducted shoreline searches, while the Coast Guard Cutter Maple was dispatched to assist. on Vanished at Sea: The Mysterious Disappearance of Cameron Booth Off Chincoteague's Coast
He was a criminal, an abuser, likely who didn't want to face justice of his actions and took his own life because he could not face the consequences of what he did. The victims have told the family his crimes, with evidence. The family knows he was arrested and convicted of possession of CSAM. They know who and what he was. And they're all so equally sick they live in comfort that the victims don't want to retraumatize themselves over everything he put them through. Dont support this families sick parade of using a monster to get sympathy. He was never ashamed of who he was. He loudly boasted his crimes and justified them. The family shouldn't sit there and pretend, how far from reality are they to sit and post this man publicly on news outlets, websites, knowing who he is. Do they need attention that badly? They don't want the attention from the truth. The victims will never get justice. Do not pray for him o
