A Routine Voyage Turns Catastrophic
On April 2, 2001, the fishing vessel Arctic Rose sank in the Bering Sea, approximately 205 miles northwest of St. Paul Island, Alaska. Among the 15 crew members lost was Aaron Robert Broderick, a 27-year-old foreman from Dillingham, Alaska. The vessel's sudden disappearance marked one of the deadliest commercial fishing disasters in U.S. history.
