On May 21, 2004, Roger L. Brittain II, a 34-year-old resident of Lahaina, Hawaii, embarked on what seemed to be a routine snorkeling excursion at Pohaku Beach Park, also known as S-Turns Beach, in Napili-Honokowai. Known for its serene waters and picturesque views, the beach was a favored spot for both locals and tourists. Brittain, an experienced swimmer, entered the ocean around 6:00 p.m., unaware that this would be the last time he was seen.
When Brittain failed to return home, concerns escalated rapidly. Search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area, and a thorough search of the beach and surrounding waters was conducted. His personal belongings, including slippers and snorkeling gear, were found on the shore, suggesting he had entered the water but never came back. Despite extensive efforts, no trace of Brittain was found in the ocean or nearby areas.
The Maui Police Department initiated an investigation into Brittain's disappearance. Given the circumstances and the discovery of his belongings on the beach, authorities leaned towards the theory of accidental drowning. However, without concrete evidence or the recovery of his body, the case remained open and unresolved. The lack of witnesses or any signs of struggle further complicated the investigation, leaving more questions than answers.
Brittain's family held onto hope, believing that he might have survived and perhaps was living elsewhere, possibly suffering from amnesia or other conditions that prevented him from returning. They continued to search for him, distributing flyers and reaching out to various organizations for assistance. The uncertainty surrounding his fate was a source of ongoing anguish for his loved ones. ...Read More
