A Routine Morning Turns Tragic
On July 8, 2011, 30-year-old Armando Mata-Magallanes left his Denver home at 5:30 a.m., intending to start his workday. His partner, Brenda De Anda, expected his return by 2:30 p.m. However, as the hours passed, concern grew when Mata-Magallanes failed to come home. It was later discovered that he never arrived at his workplace that day. He was last seen driving his 1983 blue Volkswagen Rabbit.
A Disturbing Phone Call
Shortly after Mata-Magallanes departed for work, De Anda received an unsettling call from him. He mentioned needing money and instructed her to sell his truck. The situation escalated when an unidentified Spanish-speaking man took over the call, demanding that the truck be sold for $30,000.
