On April 29, 2020, Specialist Hunter Alan Bruner, a 24-year-old soldier assigned to the 16th Combat Aviation Brigade at Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) in Washington, was last seen around 3:45 p.m. Later that evening, at approximately 7:30 p.m., he was last heard from. The following day, Bruner failed to report for a scheduled virtual check-in with a noncommissioned officer—a routine accountability measure during the COVID-19 pandemic. His absence prompted immediate concern and initiated a search by his unit.
On May 1, 2020, the Tacoma Police Department located Bruner's silver Kia Rio parked near the Tacoma Narrows Bridge, specifically at North 10th and Juniper Street in Tacoma, Washington. Residents in the area reported that the vehicle had been parked there since the evening of April 29 and had not moved. Inside the car, authorities found Bruner's personal cell phone, but his wallet and keys were missing. A thorough search of the vehicle and the surrounding area, including the waters below the bridge, yielded no additional clues.
The U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID), in collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, launched an extensive investigation into Bruner's disappearance. Despite exhaustive efforts, including interviews with local residents and searches of the area where his vehicle was found, no substantial leads have emerged. Notably, there has been no activity on Bruner's bank accounts since his disappearance, and his keys and wallet remain unaccounted for.
Hunter Bruner is described as a white male, standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing approximately 203 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. At the time of his disappearance, he was 24 years old. Bruner's home of record is Port Orchard, Washington. He entered the Army in July 2017 and was assigned to the 16th Combat Aviation Brigade at JBLM. ...Read More
