A Vanishing on the Mississippi
On March 18, 2019, 54-year-old Vernon Eugene Whitener was last seen on the Interstate 270 bridge in St. Louis, Missouri. Witnesses reported seeing him jump from the bridge into the Mississippi River. Despite extensive search efforts, his body was never recovered, and he remains classified as a missing person presumed dead.
The Final Sightings
At the time of his disappearance, Whitener was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, gray pants, and a black cap. He was described as an African-American male, 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing approximately 190 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. A distinguishing feature noted was a scar behind his left ear.
